The selection of excavator bucket teeth greatly improves wear resistance!
The bucket teeth of excavators can be said to be a component that machine enthusiasts love and hate at the same time. On the one hand, as the vanguard of the bucket, the bucket teeth are invincible for excavators to shovel soil, chisel stones, and dig trenches. On the other hand, the teeth wear out quickly, the replacement frequency is high, and the cost increases, which makes digging friends heartbroken!
But!!!
Why are teeth with similar prices,
Do others always take longer than you?
Why did you spend a lot of money on the bucket teeth,
Sometimes it's not as cheap as before?
Why on earth is this? The editor is here to reveal it to everyone! Let's talk about things like fighting teeth~
1、 Classification of bucket teeth
3 types of bucket teeth classification
Common bucket teeth on the market are classified according to their scope of application:
1. Earthmoving teeth (used for excavating light work environments such as soil, sand, gravel, etc.) are generally matched with buckets with larger opening areas, which have a larger stacking surface and therefore have a higher filling coefficient, saving operation time and high efficiency.
2. Rock teeth (used for loading ore after blasting) are made of heavy-duty wear-resistant steel, which has better excavation performance and more outstanding economy.
3. Conical teeth (used for coal and geological mining) are mainly suitable for drilling rock layers with low hardness and have significant impact.
Installation of bucket teeth
Common installation methods include straight mounted bucket teeth and horizontal mounted bucket teeth,
Direct installation refers to the vertical installation of the pin shaft and the front of the digging bucket teeth,
Horizontal installation refers to the installation of the pin shaft parallel to the front of the digging bucket teeth.
Direct mounted bucket teeth:
It is relatively convenient to disassemble and directly smash from above, with a large operating space.
During excavation, the straight mounted tooth pin will be subjected to the squeezing force of the excavated material on the front. If the excavation force is high, the clamping force of the expansion spring cannot meet the requirements, which can easily cause the tooth pin to fall off. Therefore, although this structure is easy to disassemble, it is generally used on smaller and lower tonnage excavators.
Horizontal mounted bucket teeth:
It is not convenient to disassemble, the side operation space is small, and it is difficult to awesome. When disassembling a single bucket tooth, specialized long rod tools must be used in sequence for disassembly.
During excavation, the front of the horizontally mounted tooth pin will not be subjected to the squeezing force of the excavated material and can withstand a large excavation force. However, when the expansion spring is subjected to reciprocating lateral forces during use, it is prone to wear and failure, resulting in the tooth pin falling off. It is generally more common when the excavation force is over 20 tons.

The production process of bucket teeth is different,
There are also significant differences in prices,
The common production processes for bucket teeth on the market are divided into the following three types
2、 Manufacturing process of bucket teeth
Sand casting
The cost of sand casting bucket teeth is lower, and the level of craftsmanship and quality of bucket teeth are not as good as precision casting and forging casting. So the selling price is the cheaper among all craft bucket teeth.
Precision casting
Precision casting: Moderate cost but very strict requirements for raw materials, and relatively high level of craftsmanship. Some precision cast bucket teeth have even exceeded the wear resistance and quality of forged casting bucket teeth due to ingredient reasons. At present, precision casting of bucket teeth is the mainstream manufacturing process for bucket teeth in the market.
(Key point: If the requirement for the number of bucket teeth is relatively large, then the cost-effectiveness of bucket teeth is very high. Precision cast bucket teeth perform well in terms of price, quality, cost-effectiveness, and wear resistance.)
Forging and Casting
Forging and casting: It is the higher of the three processes, and the level of craftsmanship and the quality of bucket teeth are also better, so the selling price is also the most expensive. However, what can be guaranteed is that the industrial level and quality of forging and casting bucket teeth are higher!
(Key point: If the excavator you are using is for earthmoving, the frequency and demand for replacing bucket teeth each year are relatively small. It is recommended that you choose forged and cast bucket teeth. Although the price is much higher, the service life, production process, and quality are all better.)
Generally, forged bucket teeth are more wear-resistant and have higher hardness. Their service life is about twice that of cast bucket teeth, and their price is about 1.5 times that of cast bucket teeth.
3、 Bucket tooth replacement cycle
The replacement cycle of bucket teeth should be determined according to the construction environment and wear degree of the bucket teeth. For example, if the excavator has been doing earthmoving work, the wear degree of the bucket teeth is relatively small, usually replaced every 4-5 months.
If it is a rock type bucket, the frequency of tooth replacement is relatively fast. Like granite, it usually takes about a week to replace the teeth. Of course, this cycle is not fixed, and the frequency of tooth replacement depends on the quality of the teeth and the level of care in actual operation.
4、 Daily maintenance of bucket teeth
1. Keep sharp: The teeth on both sides of the excavator generally wear out about 30% faster than the teeth in the middle of the bucket. When the teeth on both sides wear out much less than the teeth in the middle, swap the positions of the teeth on both sides and in the middle and continue to use them, indirectly increasing the service life of the teeth.
Tip: If there is a 2-3cm difference between the center teeth and the two ends teeth, they can be replaced.
2. Attention should be paid to the excavation angle: when digging downwards, the bucket teeth should be perpendicular to the working surface to avoid breaking the bucket teeth due to excessive inclination angle.
3. Wear of the tooth seat: It is recommended to replace the tooth seat when it has worn down 10-15%. There is a large gap between the tooth seat and the bucket tooth due to excessive wear, which changes the fit and force point between the bucket tooth and the tooth seat, causing the bucket tooth to break due to the change in force point.
4. Driving method: When lifting the boom, try not to retract the bucket and pay special attention to the coordination of movements. Some excavator drivers often use excessive force to throw the bucket onto rocks during the actions of enlarging the boom and lowering the forearm, which can break or crack the teeth and damage the large and small arms.
Tip: The commonly used imported excavators in the current market are Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Daewoo, Shengang, Hyundai, etc.
Commonly used domestic excavators include XCMG, Yuchai, Shangong, Sany Heavy Industry, Lingong, Shantui, Foton Lovol, Liugong, Xiagong, Chenggong, Longgong, Shanhe Intelligent, Zoomlion Heavy Industry, etc.
Currently, in addition to the bucket teeth produced by the original factory, domestic bucket tooth manufacturers are mainly located in Ningbo and Shandong for these excavators.
